Sunday May 17, 2015, we recorded our 5th Quiz Bowl. At this time, the program is in post-production (editing). The editing should take about two weeks to finish. After that, it will be shown on Comcast and Frontier Communications. The next step will be to run it on YouTube. The students from both schools performed very well in the competition.
We are now preparing for our 5th local Quiz Bowl. It is scheduled for Sunday May 17th, 2015 at the studio of GCTV.
This match will also consist of ten categories to be used in Two Rounds. There will also be a number of Bonus Questions and Random Bonus Questions.
We felt that our 4th Quiz Bowl (Nov. 23, 2014) went well. All was not perfect, the recording of this type of program is complicated. We rely mostly on volunteers who do a rather good job. Our crew is NOT a professional TV crew. Mike Lorello did a fine job editing the 4th match.
Volunteers would be welcomed to assist with the writing of questions and answers, proof-reading the questions and answers, organizing for the 5th QB, setting up the studio for the 5th QB, running cameras, and working in the Control Room [a key element in the production and recording of the match], and a number of other tasks.

Potential underwriters/sponsors are also welcomed.
We recorded our 4th Quiz Bowl on Nov. 23, 2014. The EDITING process by Mike Lorello was not finished until the 2nd week in Dec. of 2014. Students from Guilford High School and Daniel Hand High School (Madison, Ct.) performed very well under the TV lights and having 4 TV cameras pointed at them. Each TV camera had its own CARD to record the pictures from each individual camera. We also had a feed into the Control Room. Ms. Shannon Gale is the Operations Manager for GCTV-she was very helpful. The recording process used ALLOWED for a great deal of STUDENT screen time. We had THREE Excellent Underwriters: The Guilford Savings Bank (4th time), Lenny and Joe’s Fish Tale Restaurants (4th time), and People’s United Bank (1st time). We will provide a LINK so that you may watch part of or the entire match (running time about 46 minutes and 20 seconds). IF YOU LIKE WHAT YOU SEE-PASS ON THE LINK.

3rd QUIZ BOWL GHS vs. HAND Recorded 4/26/2014
We recorded this match at GCTV on April 26, 2014. The recording session did not go perfectly but you can watch part or all of the 3rd Quiz Bowl. The students adapted very well and did a nice job.
We hope to have a 4th Quiz Bowl in November of 2014.
BELOW: We will insert a LINK so that you may watch all or parts of the 3rd Quiz Bowl.
This is NOT a book about Lincoln’s children. It is about his two trusted secretaries (today the titles of Chief of Staff, Advisor to the President, or press secretary may be used) John Hay and John Nicolay. After the Civil War John Hay became a wealthy man by way of marriage he also went on to be Sec. of State under Presidents McKinley and Theodore Roosevelt. John Hay and John Nicolay took 15 years to write a 10 volume book about Abraham Lincoln. Both men were very LOYAL to President Lincoln. They were not too loving of Mary Lincoln. It took me about a month to finish reading this book. It is NOT what is called a ‘page turner’. However, the book gives a good view of how these two men understood and loved Abraham Lincoln.
This is a WELL WRITTEN book with many INTERESTING facts and stories about Abraham Lincoln.
JOEL’s HUMBLE RATING 9 plus to 10 (10 being the highest rating)
