We invite you to play along with the students. The TOTAL points come to 960. One should be able to score at least 275-375 points. I do not think any one person can score in the 700’s or 800’s. Some answers come too fast to be able to be counted in your total. We have had 29 views already-However, we made some improvements and had to use a new link. Ergo, the On-Demand numbers may appear low.
We hope to have a Quiz Bowl 7 in either November or December of 2016. We plan to change the format. The individual categories will be replaced by two rounds of random questions covering many subjects/topics. The new format is a work in progress.
We will probably end up with two 45 question rounds to be followed by a BONUS TYPE of a final round with a limited number of questions
The 6th Quiz Bowl was recorded on Dec. 6, 2015. The editing process was finished last week. Using 5 sources (4 TV cameras with their own cards plus the feed into the Control Room at GCTV) for the pictures, it was a little complicated to do the editing.
You are invited to watch the entire program or just a part of the program. The program runs for 46 minutes and about 17 seconds.
The students on both teams performed very well. We were also fortunate to have a very good TV crew for the “shoot.”
We are aware of the fact that the production of Quiz Bowl 6 is not perfect. We try to improve the technical aspects of the production each time we record a new quiz bowl.
“PERFECT IS THE ENEMY OF GOOD” OR “The best is the enemy of good”
We are now planning for a QUIZ BOWL 7. The format well be changed to reflect the format used with the National Quiz Bowls held throughout the U. S.

We are happy to announce that the playing/taping of our 6th Quiz Bowl went rather well.
We also had the help of a very good TV crew. The match was taped using a four TV camera mode with an additional feed into the control room at the studio. Ms. Shannon Gale is the very helpful Operations Manager at GCTV. Mr. Michael Lorello was the Chief Technician for our program. We had people running cameras, sound, directing, scorekeeping, and a number of other tasks. Refreshments were provided by Linda and Jon Kaplan.
Go Set A Watchman (2015) by Harper Lee This was first posted July 16, 2015.
I read this book in two days. It takes a number of chapters before you “really get into the book”. Atticus Finch is presented as a man in his 70’s still living in Maycomb, County, located in the South. One thinks of Atticus Finch in the movie version of To Kill A Mockingbird portrayed by Gregory Peck. I do not think that the book or the movie of To Kill A Mockingbird can be improved.
Should this 2nd book have been published? I have to think about that, not sure of the answer. Should you READ this book? 100% YES-People will be talking about it and you should be able to give your informed opinion about it. This book is an interesting book to read. You will find some not very nice surprises and you will see that SCOUT (Jean Louise) is now a 26 year old young woman. Atticus Finch is still a very interesting character in this book. You will read about Atticus’s sister Alexandra and his brother Dr. Finch. You will read about a NEW character named Henry “Hank” Clinton a childhood friend of Scout and Jem.
The last few chapters ARE VERY INTERESTING.
It will be interesting to read the opinions of others after they have read this book (not just the “experts” on TV).

To the question-Should this 2nd novel (Watchman) have been published in 2015?
My final answer has not been decided at this time. I am leaning toward the answer of—It would have been better not to publish this 2nd novel.
Will Watchman be used in schools like Mockingbird has been for many years? The answer is most likely NO.
In defense of the 2nd novel, it gives a much more realistic look at race relations in Alabama (and the entire U. S.) in the 1930’s and 1950’s. It does not take away from the fact that Atticus was willing to defend Tom Robinson who was falsely accused of a very serious crime especially in the South (or the North for that matter). It does take away some of the saintly glow of Atticus’s character in To Kill A Mockingbird but does not completely destroy his image of standing up for the law and what can be done during a certain time period.
If YOU do read the book, we would be interested in your views and opinions.
Sunday May 17, 2015, we recorded our 5th Quiz Bowl. At this time, the program is in post-production (editing). The editing should take about two weeks to finish. After that, it will be shown on Comcast and Frontier Communications. The next step will be to run it on YouTube. The students from both schools performed very well in the competition.
