THE RACKETEER (2012) a novel by John Grisham–A book review/rating
In the author’s note at the end of the story Mr. Grisham states, “Research, hardly a priority, was rarely called upon. Long paragraphs of fiction were used to avoid looking up facts.” Mr. Grisham is admitting that he was LAZY in the writing of this book. It does show itself throughout this implausible story.
That said, it is a fairly easy book to read. It deals with a black small town lawyer caught up in a big government legal case. The lawyer appears to NOT actually be guilty but is sentenced to 10 years in prison. The central character plots to get out of prison early.
MY HUMBLE RATING- 7 out of 10
