Hellhound on His Trail by Hampton Sides (2010) Book Review
This book deals with James Earl Ray stalking Dr. King before shooting him on April 4, 1968. The book goes into detail about the life of James Earl Ray, the shooting of Dr. King, Ray’s flight to Europe after the shooting, the inner-circle of Dr. King, and information about Dr. King’s life and time before and up to the shooting. The book also deals with the hatred of J. Edgar Hoover, of the FBI, for Dr. King.
There are a number of questions not fully dealt with such as — Was Ray hired to kill Dr. King? Where did Ray’s money come from? Did Ray have help with his crime and escape? What was Ray’s motive?
MY RATING: 8 plus A well written book-easy to read.
There seems to be little or no doubt that Ray did pull the trigger on April 4, 1968.
Jesse Jackson does not look good with the information provided about him (in this book).
The book is well written. I also read Ghost Soldiers by Hampton Sides (very good).
